So – where’s the Hall of Fame?

Beginning in 2010, scholars and fans of “the art of the album cover” began to garner their resources to establish the Album Cover Art Hall of Fame Voting Committee (a voting body that consisted of experts in the fields of packaging design, illustration, photography and music product marketing) whose goal was to recognize the contributions of those who have had a significant impact in the ongoing development and advancement of Rock, Pop, R&B, Hip-Hop (and related genre) album cover-related design, illustration and photography by inducting them into this Hall of Fame. Beginning in 2012, a new class of Inductees were chosen each November by a panel of art, music, marketing and packaging experts, with our final Class inducted in 2022 via a process in which we opened voting to all site visitors to produce a “Reader’s Choice” list of the most-popular inductees in each of the six main award categories, with the results available here. Click here if you’d like to review a list of all inductees.

While we’ve decided that we will no longer be adding names to the list of inductees, this site will continue to deliver on its original mission on both this site and its new sister site that will be launching sometime in 2024. We hope that you’ll continue visit regularly to support our efforts and share our passion for this topic with anyone and everyone you know who are fans of this unique and intriguing part of the fine/commercial art world.
